How does wood become furniture? Join this introductory workshop and find out! In this class we show you the function and safe use of the most common tools for furniture making. You will use the table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, and drill press to make a beautiful hardwood cutting board. Instructors will discuss how to select material, orient grain for a pleasing aesthetic, mill wood, and choose a proper finish. This is an excellent introductory class for anyone curious about woodworking.

*What is a Sliding Scale payment?
Sliding scale payments are a way to offer our services based on a student's ability to pay. We're offering our Intro to Woodworking class in three different levels of tuition for those who aren't able to afford the full-priced class. We want to make woodworking accessible for more folks!
This class is the same curriculum as our weekend Intro to Woodworking class but takes place over 2 weeknights. Please select your own payment ability. If you're able to afford the full tuition, we ask that you kindly save the spots for those who would benefit from it.

All materials and supplies are included. Class is limited to 5 students.

Please note, it is critical that students arrive on time. We cannot allow students who have missed instruction to join the class late. This is a serious safety concern, and we appreciate your understanding.

What to Wear

Comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Boots or sneakers are fine and long pants are preferable. Do not wear loose or baggy clothing and please tie back long hair. No dangly jewelry. Please note, this is a woodshop with no AC. You can expect to get sweaty and dusty. Woodworking is hard work!
